Do You Consider Yourself Lucky on St. Patrick’s Day?

Jill in NYAs a child, I used to look forward to St. Patrick’s Day.  It was the one day of the year I got to dress up in green and pinch people for fun!  I’d wake up to a trail of green shamrocks leading me down the hall to a hidden pot of green treasures.  Furthermore, I’d carefully pick out a green outfit to wear to school so I could be the pincher, not the pinchee!  Mom would cook green spaghetti, green Jello and green milk for dinner.  As a child, I’d spend countless hours combing my fingers through the grass trying to find a four-leaf clover to bring me good luck.

Silly holidays like St. Patrick’s Day make me wonder why humans have an innate desire to believe in something higher than ourselves. Could it be connected to the subconscious mind power? I don’t know. Maybe?  This made question, “Is luck a random gift of good fortune?  Or is it a matter of perspective and a direct result of action?”  “Or even the result of subconscious mind power?” Looking at my life’s history for the answer, I thought about the many ways luck showed up in my life.

I was lucky enough to be born into a middle-class family. Most of all, I got even luckier when my parents paid for half my college education.  It opened the door to a high paying career as a legal secretary. The attorney I worked for was hired by a billionaire, Jon Huntsman.  She took me with her to work for a fortune 500 company, The Huntsman Corporation.

Having a good job, paved the way for me to advance and develop skills.  I was promoted to be a legal trainer.  Fortune followed me and I got to travel internationally, see different cultures and learned to adapt diverse personality types.  How lucky was I to have a company spending money investing in me and my personal growth?  I developed enough skills to break off and start my own business, All Pro Disaster Cleaning.  I was lucky enough to be my own boss and I made money doing what I loved.  Over the next decade, I brought on three thousand clients and worked with over a thousand businesses that made me millions.

Then, luck struck me where I least expected it!  My twenty-year marriage and business partnership came to an end, and I was lucky enough to sell my shares and get out of an unhealthy situation.  It took a while for me to see this break as a streak of luck.  Today, I realize that I’m one lucky girl.

I’m Lucky!  I Love my Life and I’m Living my dream as the Love Your Life Coach!

I get to write, teach and speak about the things I love. I’m an instructor and coach for the Daymond John’s Success Formula. And I’m honored to coach hundreds of people.  As a coach, I help people start a business and live their dreams.  Last week, I was invited by Daymond John’s team and Blueprint and Co. This led me to co-teach high school entrepreneurs at an NFTE (Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship) event.

In answer to my question, luck seems to be a combination of good fortune, having a higher perspective of gratitude, and acting in the best interest of the greatest good.
